Teide (3718 m) in Tenerife, part of the Canary Islands archipelago, was a VUELCO target volcano during my PhD project. It was also the location of my 2nd year undergraduate fieldwork (2009), and despite the trip being more focused towards soil science and ecology, I still managed to get my volcano fix! This turned out to be rather fortunate, as I now lead a fieldtrip to Tenerife for 3rd and 4th year undergraduate geology students from the University of Exeter, examining the volcanological aspects of the island.
